Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama

Apparently Bill Bradley is set to endorse Senator Obama in New Hampshire.

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2008/0 1/06/bradley_to_back_obama.html

I confess, I don't have a read on whether or not this will make much difference.  But as someone who admires Senator Bradley, I'm thrilled to see him endorse another the current anti-establishment candidate in NH.

Anyone have a sense as to whether this endorsement will actually matter, in NH or otherwise?

Bradley got 46% in New Hampshire in 2000 (to Gore's 50%), so it seems like it could help up there. But, who knows. I don't see how it could hurt him.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

That was pretty much my take.  Doug Wilder's endorsement out of Virginia may actually prove more beneficial if he really does campaign with Obama.  Especially in South Carolina.

IS Bradley a super Delegate?

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

That's a good question.  I know some former legislative leaders are, like Gephardt, as are certain DNC members.  But I'm not sure that Bradley would qualify.

Anyone else know for sure?

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

Bradley is not a superdelegate. Current Senators, Reps, Govs, DNC members, plus former Pres, Vice-Pres, Senate & House leaders, & DNC chairs. So Clinton, Gore, Carter, Mondale, Gephardt, Daschle, Mitchell, etc. You can see a full list of superdelegate endorsements at 2008 Democratic Convention Watch.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

Thanks.  When I looked at the list previously, it was too soon to have reflected the Bradley endorsement even if he did have a vote.  Makes sense that he does not, so thanks for the confirmation.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

Great for Obama , could help in New Hampshire.

Might be seen as a sign of momentum.

I didn't see the debate tonight but if he did well , then this would add further energy to his campaign.

Ow, death knell to core dems and Gore people. Bradley?

Good fit for Obama, though.

I used to admire Bill Bradley a lot.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

To clarify what may have come out badly, I have no problem with Bradley making this endorsement, but I will never get over his scummy campaign in 2000 that put Bush in the White House.  He probably hurt us worse than Nader did.

Re: WTF? (2.00 / 1)

We can start with Bradley's lie that Al Gore was the first one to launch the racist Willie Horton attack against Dukakis in 1988, before the Republicans did it.  I could go on and on.

Many of Bradley's flat-out lies about Gore were used against Gore quite successfully in the general election by Republicans and the media.  He truly did the devil's work in that campaign.

Yeah, he started the whole "Gore is a liar" meme. Not really a huge fan of Bradley.

Bill Bradley used to go to the gym every night and not leave until he made 100 free throws in a row.

Yeah, that's right up there in my list of qualifications for president - or impressive credentials on the part of someone who endorses someone else...

I'd be more impressed if he didn't leave the piano until he had done his scales and arpeggios in all keys in sixteenth notes with the beat at 144.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

Well it does show he had a good work ethic.. of course so did Gore.  And so do Obama, Hillary and Edwards.  I doubt we will see month long vacations from any of our candidates...nor flybys of natural disasters.

Obama's got Bradley and Michael Jordan (2.00 / 3)

in his camp.  All he needs now is a good center and he'd have one hell of a team.

Barack Obama will be the first President of the United States to have ever dunked a basketball - unless you count James Madison.

LOL!

Just the image of James Madison dunking a basketball is priceless...makes my day.

Madison, at 5'4", was the Spud Webb of his day.  We all know that Spud Webb won the slam dunk contest in 1986.  But few recall that Madison won it in 1806.

Good news for Obama.  Hopefully Gore or Kerry comes next.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

New Jersey is a Feb. 5 state and I'm sure it will help there and he was very popular with indie voters in NH in 2000.

It reinforces the message that Obama represents a break from the status quo and is not just a flash in the pan.

Thank goodness most people know how wrong you are.  In fact in NH, Obama is leading the electability question...

cool down the rhetoric a little bit or, at the very least, provide some empirical support for your wild accusations regarding electability.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

A nice endorsement, not Earth shattering. Now if Teddy Kennedy or Al Gore endorse Obama that might very well end the campaign. Gore probably will wait until the Democratic nomination is settled to endorse, but Teddy is someone who probably  wants to show he still has political influence.

Re: Bill Bradley To Endorse Obama (none / 0)

People really say to themselves "Bill Bradley endorsed Barack Obama and he was a helluva guy so I'm gonna vote for Obama" ?

If so, why even vote? People should do the research instead of harping on how endorsements by Douglas Wilder and Bill Bradley are gonna push Obama over the top. People should just do the research instead of looking at who Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson or Pat Robertson want you to vote for. It isn't that hard.
